My iPod won't show up on My Computer or iTunes. I wouldn't put it in disk mode because the iPod need to be connected to the computer properly to be restored. Please help. My iPod is iPod Nano 1st Generation.

I would still try and connect it in Disk Mode anyways. iTunes will still recognize the fact that the Nano needs to be restored.

What else have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting this issue? Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of your PC? Have you tried a different USB cable?
What happens if you try to reset the device with it still connected to the PC?
Has this iPod ever worked on this PC or is this the first time you have time you have tried connecting it?
Have you carefully worked through each and every single suggestion in this Apple support document?

Did you run into any troubles when working through each of the suggestions in the article above? Does the iPod connect with another PC/Mac running iTunes? Have you tried a different USB and cable? This would help isolate the issue to your device.

I had not troubles working through each suggestions. The only problem I had was when my iPod won't connect.

I haven't tried connecting it to another computer because I only have one and I only have one cable. I can charge it just fine.
Well, I would still try and find one that you could use temporarily. Perhaps you have a friend or family member who has one you could try it out on?

I'm not sure what to do then. You need to try another cable and computer to help isolate the issue to your own PC or iPod.
