Can't select headers in Word for Mac.

I'm using Word on all of my Macs due to submission requirements of my graduate program, and a document I'm creating has suddenly made headers unselectable. Posts from 2011 suggest checking Make Master Objects Selectable from the Format menu, but no such command exists. This is driving me crazy. Does anyone know how to access headers? It seems like I simply double-clicked in the header area before, but that's not working. Any help is greatly appreciated. 🙂

I'm looking at Word 2011, and under the View menu, there is an item "Header and Footer". Selecting that makes the header accessable, at least in the document I'm looking at.

The problem is I can't select it. Perhaps I'm just losing my mind as a sleep-deprived grad student, but nothing I do puts the curser in there. 😟

No, you're right!!! I tried selecting it from the dropdown Headers menu, which added a new header that I didn't need, but nonetheless allowed me into the header section! THANK YOU!!!
