Facebook Integration (iOS 6) No Longer Working

Last week I updated my iPhone 4S (Verizon) to iOS 6. I was thoroughly pleased with the Facebook integration, especially the fact that I could pull down the notification window and post to Twitter and Facebook.

Then this morning that all stopped...and the Facebook problems started. When I try to post to Facebook using that drop down menu in notification area I get an error message saying that the post couldn't be completed because the connection to Facebook failed. When I tried to post directly from the Facebook app, the app would crash as soon as I hit post. When I re-open the app, the post is there (sometimes it even posts twice) but without fail the app crashes as soon as I hit send/post.

I don't know if this is a Facebook issue or an Apple issue...it's probably both. What I do know is that it's annoying...even more so that no one seems to have an answer. I've tried resetting (hard and soft), deleting apps, reinstalling...nothing works. I don't know why its saying that the connection to Facebook failed. When I post to Facebook using other integrated methods (photos, links) there's no problem with connecting then. It is only when I try to do it from the pull down menu and it JUSt started today. I've been using this feature constantly since I upgraded to iOS 6.

Has anyone else had this problem? I can use the Twitter integration just fine, no issues.

I have exactly the same problem since upgrading to IOS 6 on my Iphone 4s. My wife has the same phone in white and her Facebook is fine at the moment. I have tried resets and reboots and nothing works. I also have the problem on my Ipad 2 and Ipod Touch. Apple need to release an update pretty soon.

I also updated my 4S to iOS6 a few weeks ago. Both the Facebook and Twitter "Tap to Post/Tweet" appeared in the notification centre. The Twitter function worked but the Facebook function didn't. Now it appears that neither of the functions are available in the Notification centre. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the apps but it's not working.

All this supposed functionality and it doesn't work. Lets hope the next software update sorts out all the issues.

It's been awhile and the problem persists although there are some differences. The FB app no longer crashes when I use it...which is great because trying to post ANYTHING using the integrated FB features is hit and miss. Before it was limited to the "Tap to Post" feature but has since spread to sharing links and photos using the the iOS 6 Facebook integration. Some days the entire feature set works fine...some days only certain features work. Still, other days none of it works at all.

I don't mind issues with new software...it's inevitable. However, coming from an Android based phone, it seems odd to me that a closed system such as the iPhone could have so many variances with new software. Speaking of Android, I have a theory as to why this integration problem occurs.

I used 3rd party Facebook and Twitter apps when I had my Droid. For some reason (and inconsistently) at times my Facebook posts would result in a similar error message (something like can't reach Facebook). When I contacted the developers, I was told that Facebook sometimes limits 3rd party posts and that there seems to be no rhyme or reason to when/why it happens.

I noticed that when I was posting often to FB using the 3rd party app during a relatively short period of time (during a Notre Dame football game, for example...GO IRISH), I would eventually get that error message. The next day I could post again.

That seemed to be the case with the integrated FB features. I would do some heavy posting and then I'd start getting the error message. I'd wait about 24 hours and then it's work again. However, now that the problem has spread to links and photos, that theory doesn't hold up as much.

Still, it could be that when posting using the integrated features, Facebook thinks its a 3rd party app and that's causing the random errors. Perhaps a software update that causes integrated FB posts to be seen by FB just like apps posted via the iOS app would solve this.

At any rate, at least the app itself is no longer crashing. Hopefully the integration with FB will eventually become as smooth as the Twitter integration which has worked flawless for me.

Again, my issue isn't the problem itself...it's the lack of response or acknowledgement that irks me.
