Preview often quits unexpectedly

When I use Preview to read a PDF-formed document such as a user guide from Apple ,it often quits unexpectedly.In most cases,scanning is whatever ok,while highlighting some words or typing something new in notes always lead to quitting unexpectedly.Additionally,the handles above are sometimes paused by a multi-colored windmill blowing,and then it's quit again,again,again.

I guess something is wrong during the process of saving new operation.Moreover,the same issue on my imac(2011) just appears from macos 10.7.4 to 10.8.2

I hope someone could do me a favor with this.Many thanks.😝

Hi,

The solution provided by Linc David in this topic doesn't work in my case. I deleted the "com.apple.Preview" files in the Library folder and Preview still quits unexpectedly after opeing any kind of files.

I know it's a few years later but I recently encountered this issue as well. I am a visual designer and recently disabled the following font: Helvetica LT Std using FontExplorer X Pro and suddenly it would crash every time I tried to open a document. Reactivating it (this was even after a reboot!) fixed it for me. Just a heads up for anyone else who might have Preview crashing repeatedly and the deleting the stuff in the Library didn't work for them, like it didn't for me.
