Old, Old,,,Old iMac sync to iPhone5?

So, I just bought an iPhone 5 and I noticed in the tech specs that the iPhone 5 requires OS 10.6 or later to sync with iTunes. I have an old iMac that can only be upgraded to 10.5. Mine is as far as it can go, 10.5.11. Am I right in thinking the only way to get all my music, apps and contacts and bookmarks,I.E. everything that's on my 3rd generation iPod to my iPhone 5 is to back up everything to the iCloud? Then when I get my iPhone 5 complete the setup assistant and back up from iCloud?

Oh heck yeah. I'd love to get a new MacBook pro retina but right now with one kid in college and one on the way to college things are a bit tight right now so I need to strecth the bennies as far as I can. So I was looking it the iCloud Match FAQs and this was there:

Does iTunes Match stream or download songs?

On a computer, any songs stored in iCloud will stream over the air when played, though you can download them at any time by clicking the iCloud download button. iOS devices will start playing tracks from iCloud as they download and will store them so that you can listen to them later even if you don’t have a network connection. Apple TV only streams songs.

Looks like I can sign up for iTunes match. Upload all my music including CD's I've ripped, then hit the download button and everything is on my iPhone5 so I can listen to my music three floors under the National Gallery of Art.

Does that sound right?
