iPhone 5 lagging and group messages.

I also have this problem but on the messaging app it will lock up and become unresponsive for 30 seconds or so even when the lock or home buttons are pressed

Any ideas?

I'm having a similar problem with my iPhone 4S! My 4S would lag horribly when I'm being bombarded with text message in the Group Message. It has gotten to points where the phone would freeze for a good 5 seconds. I'm extremely upset, this problem has never occured before and the 4S is supposed to still be able to keep up as of speed. I'm not sure if this was is a software issue or not, but I hope it is just an iOS6 issue that can be patched. I didn't have this problem when I was on iOS5. I also didn't spend $700 on a phone that's supposedly the fastest iPhone as little as a year ago, and now it's lagging like it's 2 generations behind.

Please, can someone help.

I have the same problem. It's lagging like the phone is "thinking" while im trying to make calls or type/read messages. In addition, the cellular signal keeps disappearing in my room when ive known my room to have good reception with the iphone 3 and 4.

Would be interested to know if i got a lemon. Or maybe this is a software issue that can be fixed with a patch.

I think I've figured out my problem! My iPhone 4S starts lagging really bad in framrate when I receive a single text! Here's how I tested it. I used Messages on my mac to send imessages to my phone. I would send about 12 at a time in a row. As I'm doing this, I'm on my home page of the iPhone 4S flipping through my different pages of apps to check the fluidity of the interface. As I am flipping, the lag gets really bad as the phone is receiving the iMessages; it becomes choppy. I also found a forum mentioning that the issue was the "Banner Notification", but I tested that by turning Banners off. Even with the banners off the phone has terrible lag... Is this normal? I've never had this problem before..

Apple? Is anything being done about this? It's prity poor I get a brand new phone that lags and freezes and needs to be restarted every few days to keep it happy. And yet we don't even get a response saying we're working on it. Thanks then.......

Hey Lidz87, are you having the same issue as I am? Mine lags when I receive incoming text messages or iMessages. During that process where the animations are going on it will lag the phone. I did a hard reset, and after I tested it by spamming my phone with messages from my mac. After the hard reset, the lag went away but I feel like it's just a matter of time before it starts up again. I'll keep an eye out on it for these next few days to see if it will start up again. I'll let you guys know the progress.

Yes I have that. It also lags in a few other paces which I can't think of right now. Another issue is the screen wont light up properly occasionally but locking it and unlocking it sorts the issue.

This is my first iphone ever. I got it because every person I knew that had one has said "I have never had a problem with an iphone." So when I got my iphone 5 I was stoaked. Now it freezes and laggs many times a day!? What can I do to fix this!?

I usually never have serious problems with my iPhones, but I really feel like this lag issue is coming from the iOS6. I thought it was just my 4S as of a couple days ago, but when I told my friend who had an iPhone 5, they said the same thing was happening to their phone.

I'm experiencing serious lagging/freezing while reading/sending text messages on my iphone 5 running ios6. At first it was limited to group messages, but now it is any text. I have turned off iMessage, and still have the problem.

I have reset and restored this phone as new on four seperate occassions due to other issues.

I love this phone, but these bugs are starting to wear on me. Reading a text and having my phone freeze for 5-10 seconds is unacceptable.

I'm having this same problem, and it's driving me nuts. It would freeze for 5-10secs after checking a text message.

Totally unacceptable. Is something wrong with out phones hardware wise? Or is it a iOS6 software problem??!!!

Yep, I'm having the same problem. I went to the Apple store and the "genius" told me to do a factory restore and start from my iCloud backup. I did this and still had the same problem. I went back a few days later and he said, "no no no, what you needed to do is do a factory restore and start from scratch." I did this and am still having the same problem... Very frustrating to have the "newest and greatest" phone and have it run more slowly than my iPhone 4 at times...

Hey man, I tried the factory restore too from itunes and I'm on a 4S not a 5.I've also tried hard resets numerous times, but the problem still occurs for me also... This is a dissappointment. I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem, so people can believe me. Seeing that you went to the genius bar and they were of no help at all, what should I do?

My iphone5 running 6.0.1 also has this problem freezes in group message phone completely locks up and have to wait at leased 30seconeds for it to spring back into life. Starting to get annoyed with it never had this problem with my 4 running iOS 6. Anyone know if any things being done about this?

I've been dealing with this issue since I upgraded my 4S to iOS 6 in September. I too thought it was software related and did a complete factory restore via iTunes with no backup, also tried the Erase All Content and Settings Reset from the iPhone itself.
