iPhone 5 lagging and group messages.

i got my iphone the day it came out and it has been lagging and even freezing on me. when i scroll through my pages and sometimes exit an app it slows down and even stops working sometimes. i also have a problem with my group messages. i get my notifications 30 seconds after the message comes in. its very annoying because ill be in my imessage app and the notification pops up after i have already responded to the message. any help or tips please? i dont have too many apps and i have around 6 GB of space left so i dont have too much stuff. and i dont have apps running in the backgroup when this stuff happens. im on AT&T if that helps. anything i can do please help.

I'm sorry, but that just shouldn't be necessary. That's kind of a pain in the ***. I have stuff that is connected to my phone and my iTunes that I don't really feel like messing up by making sure it's backed up, etc.

I was much less careful with my iPhone 4 in regards to memory and archiving and whatnot, and I never had one instance of lag or freezing. The 5 is supposed to be superior in every way, yet I can't even smoothly make calls or send messages.

Molndal, thanks for the advice, but I must say that I agree with LDukart here. By no means should a workaround be neccessary for a feature as standardized as group messaging. Something so simple should "just work" within reasonable expectations; having to do frequent restores just to keep a phone salvagably functional certainly does not qualify as such.

The iPhone 5's messaging features should work without issue, as was the case with previous models of the iPhone. Apple has pitched this $649-$849 product as an all-in-one cutting edge device. Not only is its most commonly used feature non-functional, but the ensuing lag cripples the higher level features as well.

I have never been so disapointed in an Apple product (be it the iPhone 5 or iOS 6 - whichever is the true source of the issues). I have championed the brand for years based on my good experiences. Accordingly, I will voice my concerns in a reasonable manner until the problem is directly addressed.

I shared this thread via social media, and many people immediately responded with identical problems. They had no idea that it wasn't "just them". I suggest you all do the same. So many people practice learned helplessness when it comes to failing devices, but didn't we all buy iPhones to avoid that in the first place?

My thoughts exactly.

My concern is actually less about the bugs in the phone, but the complete lack of support from the manufacturer.

There are articles about this problem from well known sources on the Internet, plus this thread. More than enough complaints to at least get a response.

And no, I'm not going to restore my phone every however long to temporarily make something a little better, that should be perfect in the first place.

I'm now thinking about getting rid of everything apple, and re-purchasing the competition's counter parts. Something I loath doing, but when I buy apple I THOUGHT I was buying the best. Guess not.

I suppose my business is a pin drop in the apple ocean, so why would they care, right?
