how to change from insert to overtype mode on keyboard
How does one change between insert and overtype mode as one could do with a PC. There is no isert key to toggle between modes.

There is no "over type" feature available in a Mac.
Just highlight and type.
The "overtype" mode is actually a default subscript:
Select some text in a rich text document, choose Format > Font > Baseline, and then choose an option from the submenu.
Use Default: | Places the selected text at the same level as the body text. |
But it doesn't remain active, so selecting text and typing over it is the best "overtype" mode.
