How do you change your ring tone to music from your itunes?
iPhone 5, iOS 6
Step by Step Procedures to Create Free Ringtone on iTunes 10
1. Launch iTunes and pick a song you want to convert to ringtone
2. Right-click on the song and click âGet Infoâ to view the song properties
3. Select âOptionsâ tab. Check and fill in the âStart timeâ and âStop timeâ to extract the portion of song you want to create as ringtone. Ensure the length is not longer than 30 seconds. Otherwise, iTunes will not recognize it as a ringtone. When you are ready, click âOKâ to confirm.
4. Again, right-click on the song and select âCreate ACC Versionâ.
5. iTunes then automatically extracts the portion of song you have instructed in the previous step. The new song file is just 30-sec in length. Thatâs the song you work on from step 6 and onwards.
6. Next, right-click on the song and select âShow in Finderâ. This will launch Finder and locate the song file you just created.
Note: For Windows user, you should choose âShow in Windows Explorerâ instead.
7. Rename the file extension from â.m4aâ to â.m4râ.
8. Next, go back to iTunes. Right-click on the song you have created and select âDeleteâ.
9. Click âRemoveâ to confirm the removal and then click âKeep Fileâ when youâre prompted. This instructs iTunes to remove the song (the 30 sec version) from iTunes library and keep the actual file.
10. Go back to Finder and double-click on the ringtone file (.m4r) you have just renamed. The ringtone will automatically add it to iTunesâ ringtone library. You can now sync it to iPhone using iTunes. Enjoy your new ringtone!

Hi, this all worked fine, right up until I try to select the ringtone on my iPhone. I have sync All Tones set in my iTunes, I can see the new tone, but after syncing, I then go to settings, sounds, ringtone, and can't select it to use it.
I'm sorry it is there now. Thanks for your help.
My other purchased tones aren't, but I'm guessing I can do the same thing to get them working.
Hi,
In my case, my song in iTunes is an .mp3 file. When I do right mouse click, I do not see "Create AAC Version". I only see "Create MP3 version".
How do I get around this problem?
thanks
iTunes>preferences>General>import settings. Chenge this to AAC.
Try to drag the file to the "Tones" section on the left pane of your iTunes.
Thank you for your reply but I don't see a Tone section on itunes.
I've been trying to do this for 2 hours already. Do you have any other suggestions?
iTunes>preferences>check Tones checkbox
I added the Tones section in my iTunes and added the file there and synched my iphone.
I still cant see it under Settings >> Sounds >> Ringtones đ
I am supposed to see it there right?
Yes. Did you check the ringtone under tones tab in iTunes? Is it under 30"?
But they are under tones in iTunes library. Right?
Yes, also in the iTunes Library.
