iOS 6: Music playback issues?

After upgrading to ios 6 I've found an extremely annoying problem regarding music playback. iOS 6 doesn't seem to remember where you last paused a playlist, album, etc... it always starts back at the last place you originally started it.

For example:

I have an album with 12 songs. I start it on track 4, listen to a few songs on the way to work. Pull the headphone cord once I arrive and Music pauses as expected. When I return to the car for the drive back home, instead of resuming playback where I left off, it starts back at track 4 again.

Another example:

Let's say I want to listen to an artist, so I go to "All Songs" and just hit shuffle so it plays randomly. I listen to a few tracks here and there, skip a few, all is good. Just as with albums, when I stop playback and resume later it will always return back to the first song played, and play then back in the same order again.

Am I missing a setting or something? I searched the settings app may times and can't find anything even close. Does it have anything to do with me pausing the player by removing the headphone cord? Could it be some app I am using between pauses?

Never had issues with ios 5, so this is defenitely software related. iOS 5 used to remember where I last played music over days -- even if I were to watch videos on the iPhone or listen to Pandora between music playback.

I am having an issue with music but mine is a little different. It won't play anything! I open the playlists, choose one and then the screen starts scrolling up and down really fast flipping through song titles. I can't stop it. I have shut down the phone twice and a hard restart. I have a 4S upgraded to iOS 6 (second one actually since my first phone got hosed due to the upgrade). Any ideas???!!!!

Having a similar problem. And this after the latest update of iOS 6 to my iPhone 4 update. No track plays back at the spot it was paused. Actually, plays a few tracks back. Resumes at the track I played before the last pause - either by jerking out the cords or tap on the pause button. An arduous task to go through an audio book especially! #Anupdatesoon!

Exact same problem with my 4s since the upgrade! This really is infuriating. Takes me 5 minutes to play a song!!! Then the screen locks for a while and I can't pause or changes tracks. I thought by no Apple would have fixed these issues! Apple blew it and we all no nothing like this would have lingered like this long if Jobbs was running things!!! FIX THESE ISSUES APPLE!!!! I was going to get a 5 but now I'm I'm going with an android after years with Apple! Sad day!

After finally getting extremely fed up with this, I decided to wipe my phone complete and restore to factory defaults. So I did it, and let the 6.0.1 re-load, and setup the device like it was new. I didn't restore my backup, and transferred a couple of playlists from my computer over to my phone.

This DID NOT fix the problem.

Apple needs to address this issue pretty soon or I'm going to have to seriously consider switching to another platform.

I've had this issue and also the following...

Every so often, and I believe it's when I have a playlist on shuffle and repeat and it's on a second go around, I'll be in the middle of the song, and the phone will stop the current one and skip to the next song. Oddly enough, the screen will still show the initial song, still counting where it would be if the audio hadn't switched. I'll dub back and it will jump at exactly the same spot again and again and again. I click to the next song (which is what my phone had jumped to) and it will just start the song over again or the information and artwork will switch over to the new song and the counter will pick up right where it should be as if the song had started from the beginning normally. Any time I experience this, i just go back into the playlist and hit shuffle again and it alleviates the problem temporarily, until it happens again.

Just today, I was listening to music off of my purchased playlist and was adding music to another playlist i was going to switch to. Every time i clicked to add a song to the new playlist, the song playing restarted. Every time. What?

Apple really effed up the Music app, the most simple and basic App they built their mobile devices off of.

My problem is that when I play 4 or 5 songs in a row, it won't play anymore and I ave to restart my phone then it will play that song. Another thing it does is not letting me play any song I want, if I hit the song it will shuffle to the song it wants to play and most of the time it's some of the same song it's been playing. Has anyone found a solution yet? I forgot to mention that mine is the iphone 5 32gb. Sometimes the songs skips like a record.😠

Glad to know my husband and I are not the only people with this same annoying problem. I get extremely tired of having to find my place again daily with my playlist or audiobooks! If I would have known that the newest iOS 6 update would completely change my playback ability on my 4s, I would have thought twice about updating! Before the update, I looked forward to using my phone's music app during my commute. Now it's just a hassle, wasting my time trying to figure out where I left off. I hope Apple fixes this problem soon or I might have to consider switching to a different phone. I am due for an upgrade!
