iPhone 5 needs iTunes 10.7, click the iTunes button at the top of this page to install the current version 10.7 if needed.

ok so I was having the same problem and i figured it out! since nothing else up here was helping me 😐...but the problem is with Bonjour which iTunes uses to recognize your devices and other stuff. when bonjour stops working, then iTunes can't connect with your devices. (i have windows 7) If you go to control panel>>system and security>>administrative tools>>services...scroll down to Bonjour Services..if you see that it says disabled or stopped then this is what you need to do. go to Computer>>right click on Computer>>click manage>>open services and applications>>open services>>scroll to Bonjour Services, right click on Bonjour Services>>Properties>>change startup type to Automatic, click apply, press start, then press ok and thats it! your phone should get recognized now! worked for me so should work for you!

Hey Guys,

So I was having the same issue. iPhone 5 on iTunes 11. iPhone wouldnt come up on iTunes 11 on a new MBA (less than a week old), or even iPhoto! So after reading many forums and trying many things this finally did the job:

Quit all your applications, turn off the mac and deselect the button that says reopen windows when log back in so that is not ticked:

User uploaded file

Then restart the computer. Your iPhone should now come back on iTunes as visible when you relaunch iTunes or iPhoto and reconnect it.

Hope this helps you guys, it would of saved me hours had I read this sooner.

Hi all,

None of the methods mentioned above solves my problem. But I managed to resolve the problem by using these steps.🙂

  1. Unplug iPhone from my computer.
  2. Restart my computer.
  3. Reboot my iPhone
  4. Start iTunes
  5. Plug my USB cable into a different USB port
  6. Plug in my iPhone.

This troubleshooting tip came from one of these links. Hope this helps you. If not, have a look at these pages.
