Purchase Mac OS X 10.6 via Apple telephone orders at 1-800-MY-APPLE for $20. Install then upgrade via on-line software update to 10.6.9 using the 10.6.8 Combo installer.

That should read update to 10.6.8 rather than 10.6.9.

As I said, the 10.6 DVD costs $20. The update from the DVD version to 10.6.8 via on-line is free.
