unified address names keeps changing back to facebook name in ios 6 (Facebook Contact Sync)

Okay what am I doing wrong. Like most people, I was excited for the facebook integration and contact syncing. Some of my facebook friends, were already in my contacts (iCloud), after syncing my contacts with facebook, it change some of my contacts names to their facebook names. I then opened up the contact scrolled to iCloud contact, and chose the "use this name for unified card". I was happy. but every so often it changes them back.

Today I fixed then again, backup up the device, and updated my contacts again in facebook, and it was fine. I am wondering if its an iCloud issue? Could my other iDevices be causing the contacts to changing back?

Anyone else seeing this?

Dear friends, I would like to say stop asking the same thing. In any version, APPLE didnt fix it. If they did fix it, they will announce to us like usual. If not, then they don't. The reason behind it is your contact is out dated awhile everything a FBer update their profile, it will sync to your phone to have a latest infos of them. You cant blame apple nor anyone. For example like my friend, they put every infos are real and so I up to date to about him but the one like crapping name and infos, I dont link it to my contact. It is a good thing to be up to date. So nor complain or asking cause they will never fix it cause it is not AN ERROR nor PROBLEM. Think again in positive way, will 'ya?

I dont know how to put this tackfuly..... but I will try. If and I say that with BIG IF, Apple did indeed design it that way, it is flawed...... If you chosse "use this name for unified card" it should use it, even after if it has synced and re-synced. THIS IS A PROBLEM!!!!! I will not think of it in a "postivite way". It is our right to complain, that what this community is for to find soultions, and have discussions..... If you don't like us complaining.... this dont read, or comment on the discussion......You telling us this is a good thing....well, I'm sure you have not made many people very happy.........

Sorry to say that. But this is the problem. And this is an error. At least this is so to me.

I'm personaly not that big fan of Apple to forgive it some underdesigned features. I want to have control over MY contact list so why should I ever want to give someone control to rename contacts in my address book? I want Mom to be named Mom, because I want so. I'm very much concerned about this bug, because this is definitely the bug. Should I turn off facebook integration in my iPhone or buy an Android, where I can customize my phone the way I want, not the way some smart developer decided for me?

I have the same problem. And YES IT IS A PROBLEM!

The problems occures when sync iphone with mac and not when someone change his Fb profile.

I found that in some cases if you unlink a contact and try to merge the iCloud contact with th Fb contact and not the opossite then the contact doesn't change the unifield name when you sync it.

So we have to wait for an update to fix it....

The problem still exists and no solution exists for it as far as I can see. Why Apple haven't addressed such a serious problem that exists between their contact manager & the most popular app/social media entity know to man, is quite frankly beyond me. This has gone on for ages now, and is affecting a ridiculous number of people. Really frustrating...

Hi folks,

Hope you're all well.

It's been a while since we last talked about this! Does anyone know if this issue has been fixed in iOS7? I can't bear to switch on Facebook contact syncing on my phone, through fear of it destroying all of my contacts again.

Pls do let me know if anyone has found it to be working again.

Best,

Ed.

Cool, cheers littlekelli.

Out of interest, when I switch on contact syncing, it's asking me whether I want to keep or delete the existing contacts on my phone. If I choose keep, it says I will get duplicate entries of everything. If I choose delete, then I will lose all of my unified entries.

It looks like I can't win. I just have to bite the bullet & start building my contacts (& re-unifying entries) from scratch. But am hoping this is the last time I'll ever have to do it if this iOS7 fix works.

Does this sound right to you - was this the same thing you had to go through? Just want to check in case I'm doing something wrong, and before I create alot of extra work for myself.

Many thanks, ed.
