unified address names keeps changing back to facebook name in ios 6 (Facebook Contact Sync)

Okay what am I doing wrong. Like most people, I was excited for the facebook integration and contact syncing. Some of my facebook friends, were already in my contacts (iCloud), after syncing my contacts with facebook, it change some of my contacts names to their facebook names. I then opened up the contact scrolled to iCloud contact, and chose the "use this name for unified card". I was happy. but every so often it changes them back.

Today I fixed then again, backup up the device, and updated my contacts again in facebook, and it was fine. I am wondering if its an iCloud issue? Could my other iDevices be causing the contacts to changing back?

Anyone else seeing this?

Yes, agreeded...... I did speak with a level 2 tech a couple of weeks ago, and let him know that there was a problem with the unified name card changing back to the facebook name, every time it updates or syncs. He implied that the engineers were aware and working on it...... but he could have just said that... who knows????

Does anyone know if this problem was fixed in the last OS update (i.e. yesterday)? Probably too early to tell I imagine...

Looks like it might have been. Fingers crossed but I have tried updating contacts in the Facebook settings and it still kept my names where I had changed them.

I belive it has been fixed in 6.1....... its been 12 hours, and no change back.... I have even re synced facebook contacts several times!!!!!

Obviously this is an issue with the integration of facebook with iOS...

iOS should not allow facebook to override names once you manually select a name different than the facebook name.

And unfortunately, 6.1 did not contain a fix for this issue 😟

do see it the same way - and had a case opened on this. To apple support staff, to my surprise, it seemed a complete new topic.

Really? When I talked to a level 2. Tech support he implied that they were aware and they were working on it. I find that the level one support are clueless most of the time.

It takes so much time to change a small piece of code... Been waiting for this for ages! And was really dissapointed to see the problem is not solved in 6.1. Hope they are going to include this into 6.2...

What's the latest on this - I've disconnected Facebook from my iPhone contacts due to this exact issue.

Have they fixed it yet? Are people still having the same problems?

I get the exact same problem! Maybe it's because I use Google Sync on both my iPhone & iPod Touch. Maybe I should use the 'Use this name for Unified Card' button on both devices and see how it turns out. It's really annoying because I have close family stored under their respective names and when I try and find them it lists them under their real name. :@

Nope..... It wont matter. Using the unified card only works temporarly..... as soon as facebook re-syncs..... it will go back to the facebook name. Trust me this is anyoning!!!!!
