MacBook Pro Retina Sound Issues

Hi folks,

I used my MacBook Pro Retina with no difficulties over the last 2 month,

but recently I have experienced some sound problems.

Often, when I just want to play a video on YouTube or listen to some

music, the sound stops for a blink of an eye or is crackling throughout the

song or video.

It sounds a bit like the soundcard is having difficulties to play back the

sound, but I don't think a normal iTunes Song is causing this.

I furthermore imagine, that some driver is not running properly or

the threads for audio output are disturbing each other.

But I have absolutely no clue, what the cause is.

Maybe someone else experienced the same.

I would be grateful for any help.

Ps: I have the MacBook Pro Retina Mid 2012 (2,6 GHZ; 16 GB RAM; 512 GB SSD) Version,

if this is any hint.

Hello,

same issue too with my MacBook Pro Retina Mid 2012

2,3 GHz Intel Core i7

8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB

OS X 10.8.3

Very frustrating. Already contacted Apple Support Team on the phone, reset NVRAM/PRAM and SMC but nothing changed - this was the only option they suggest to solve the problem - . The issue regularly occurs listening musinc on iTunes and watching video on the web (not only watching them on YouTube).

Sound stops for a blink of an eye or is crackling. Apple please fix it.

thanks!

I have also Macbook Pro Retina 15 inch mid 2012 with 10.8.3. I bought this computer mainly for professional audio purposes and...sadly, i've been having these sound cracking issues. My old 13 iinch 2009 macbook was really reliable compared to this machine. I would like to have a refund or change the computer to reliable one if that would be possible. I have diffuculties to do my job, f.e my audio mastering program. Some times audio cracking is continuous and you can't really work with this. I've tried PRAM resetting and disapling graphics switching. I'm pretty mad at the moment after paying this much money and that this computer is reminding me of windows computers that i used 10 years ago and always had these audio problems. People have been complaining several months about these issues and what does Apple? Nothing.

I agree as well, I thought the issue was gone in the 10.8.3 update but it seems like it really isnt. sound crackles to **** all the time. this is a smoking fast machine. this should not be happening.

Not only all that, the issues with Logic and its graphics are also still there.

This machine is doomed. has anyone here gotten a replacement yet? I am actually afraid to even try.. They have already replaced a ghosting display on it (the LG one)!

I have this issue also (please find link to video below).

It seems to happen when being woken from sleep, opened up from being closed, at startup and at other random intervals.

I am currently running 10.8.4 seed but I have done full restores, etc with same problem.

Done all the resetting PRAM/SMC and a host of other exhaustive tests.

This nosie is getting worse.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Here is a short video of the nosie which seems to come from the top left hand side above the keyboard.

Just happened again now. I was watching videos on Youtube while i've opened a new link on a new page. Well, in the moment the browser opened the new page, sound was crackling and it continued for different seconds. It is like you're launching an heavy application and the system is suffering that...I was only watching a video on the web opening a new page... this can't be an hardware issue and this can't be normal for such an expensive machine! Please fix it!

Mid-2012 base retina Macbook Pro with 16GB RAM.

Same issue, happens only using integrated GFX card and presumably only when network is active.

I took it back to the Apple store, supposedly he couldn't reproduce the error (he had to take it to the back for a quiet). I get home and manage to reproduce it within 5 seconds.

When is this issue going to be resolved? I feel like I've bought an entire graphics card for NO reason whatsoever as the crackling is infuriating enough to keep me on the nvidia. So my batterylife takes the hit instead.
