MacBook Pro Retina Sound Issues

I'm still having this problem...

I booked mines into the store and turns out my left hand fan had died.

As soon as they replaced this I've had no other problems. <Touch wood>.

Hi guys. Macbook Pro Retina mid 2012. Same issue but the sound is a very sharp, compressed pop every few seconds when playing audio from ANY source. Sounds horrible and like shomething's short circuiting or something. Very confused as to why Apple haven't said anything about this? Maybe not here, but I can't find anything from them from anywhere? None of the Apple guys I'd spoken to had said they knew about this issue either. Seems really odd as there's loads of people facing this issue.

So is it hardware/software? Any resolutions? Any concrete knowledge on it at all?

What should I do?

Software issue. It's the Intel drivers for the Intel HD 4000. Turn off Automatic Graphics Switching in the Energy Saver Settings, which forces the Nvidia card to be used and you won't hear the popping/cracking sound.

I've disabled this setting and restarted the macbook. The high intensity popping still occurs whenever any sound is played.

What should I do? :/

Is the setting still on? You didn't have to restart just uncheck Graphics Switching. If that doesn't fix it then you may have a speaker going bad.

Yep it's unchecked, the box is unticked. I think maybe it's a dodgy speaker then? Thanks for replying so promtply. Anything else you suggest?

Oh and I don't face this issue when listening with headphones by the way. I think it may just be dodgy speakers. :/

you dont have to install this program, you only need to click the program.

So the issue should be related to HD 4000? if my Macbook Retina works only with the Nvidia this won't happen anymore?

Nah thanks for all your help guys but it doesn't work for me. Think I must have dodgy speakers as the noise it makes is almost like a spark, which suggests there's a short circuit somewhere in there. Thanks though guys. If you still have any more suggestions I'd be glad to hear them.

I posted my issues way back in January (page 3 of this thread), but somewhere along the way the annoying pops and sound disruptions stopped, I assume from one of the updates to Mountain Lion. I wonder if some of the other original posters have also had their problems disappear?
