MacBook Pro Retina Sound Issues

Hi folks,

I used my MacBook Pro Retina with no difficulties over the last 2 month,

but recently I have experienced some sound problems.

Often, when I just want to play a video on YouTube or listen to some

music, the sound stops for a blink of an eye or is crackling throughout the

song or video.

It sounds a bit like the soundcard is having difficulties to play back the

sound, but I don't think a normal iTunes Song is causing this.

I furthermore imagine, that some driver is not running properly or

the threads for audio output are disturbing each other.

But I have absolutely no clue, what the cause is.

Maybe someone else experienced the same.

I would be grateful for any help.

Ps: I have the MacBook Pro Retina Mid 2012 (2,6 GHZ; 16 GB RAM; 512 GB SSD) Version,

if this is any hint.

Do you guys also have the issue when there is no sound output? With my brand new rMBP I get a slight crackle from the left hand speaker even when it's on mute. It makes a sound like a small spark as one of you described it before.

I tried turning off automatic graphics switching and I haven't heard it yet, but I can't say for sure that it's gone since it only happens once or twice a day. I can only confirm that this 'solution' eats battery life. It's not the end of the world, but I expect better from an expensive machine like this.

I go to an Apple Store tomorrow at 10 a.m. I will sat you inform For me, the problem is same in Windows than OSX 10.8.4. Often, it happen when I listen a web radio and use an other app in same time (like a vine video on facebook, a you tube video, iTune). But, the problem is also there when there no sounds, like at the start of Windows. Yesterday, it happen when I set up the volume. The « dong » sounds have been glitch

I can now confirm that turning off 'Automatic graphic switching' makes the crackling sound disappear. However, now my rMBP constantly runs on the Nvidia graphics card and that drains the battery very quickly.

I'm not happy with this solution, but at least that annoying sound is gone. If anyone has a better solution I'd appreciate it very much.

No, I just turned it off. I didn't even restart the computer. It wasn't crackling at the exact moment that I turned off the setting, because the sound came and went. There was no telling when it was gonna appear next. Yet, I took a few days in order to validate wether the sound really didn't return. So far I haven't heard it anymore *fingers crossed*.

The sound seemed to appear only when the computer was working with the Intel HD graphics 4000 card. In your case I would give it another try. If it doesn't work yours is definitely a different problem from the one I have. That wouldn't make it easier at all...

Any news ? I had the problem on my june 2012 mac, but they remplace it by a new one (I had others problems)... february 2013 The sounds problem still there. But I think that disable the HD 4000 is a solution. When I desable/enable it several times, the crackling appear about 1/2 I can keep the GT 650M for the moment, but I will not keep it always. When I travel, I need to use the HD 4000 So, do you think the 10.8.5 or the 10.9 will resolve the problem or it's a hardware problem ?
