My iPhone 5 keeps freezing

The good news for those of you that purchased the apple care (for a ridiculous monthly payment) is that they will replace your iphone. The genius bar did not seem to think there was any problems all 3 times I went in: I

did not get the applecare, and they can not seem to "re-create" the problem so the issue, as of yet, has not been resolved. The worst part about of all this is that I am a first time iphone user (iphone 5), and converted 2 others in my family only to find out that my phone won't stop freezing. I am afraid I may jump ship, unless they replace with a new phone. Once I change my mind, others in my household will too! I am seriously devasted that this is happening, because I really like my other apple products.. 😟 I hope apple stands behind thier product and does the right thing here!

I'm having the same problem. Has anyone found an acceptable resolution?

My perfectly maintained phone, bought new about a year ago has that same problem. It happens on many of my calls, and happens on iOS 8.02 and 8.1 both. Apple has been unable to solve it with my support call to them, using their advice to restore the phone from my iTunes backup. Today on a second call I told them I was unwilling to update to 8.1.1 unless they said specifically in writing that update solves the problem. They gave me no assurance the update solves the problem. Apple has finally tipped me in favor of looking at competitor's phones or jail-breaking my 5, as their software is regularly glitchy or unreliable.

YOu dt imagine guys , some of the cases have freezing issues but when on charge , nothing at all so u can simply innovate something like the charger's pin 🙂

Finally figured out the problem. It's a bad Sim card. Take it out, it won't freeze. Put it back in it'll freeze with in minutes. I remember this happening to an old Sony Erickson phone I had. The only solution is to go to your cell provider and get a new Sim card. Hope that helps.

my iPhone's home button doesn't work, nor does my off and on button work, so basically I'm screwed. and mine freezes for like a hour or more its mainly on text but a lot of it gets frozen and i hate to get a new phone and then i have to set up all that crap and every things just annoying . i feel like its because the iPhone 5 is kinda getting out dated and with all the new updates it just doesn't really work with the iPhone 5 as that well. but they are also kinda new but then not. and plus not every one wants to get a 6\6plus. its so frustrating😠😕 please help.

MY iphone 5 has started freezing more and more. I have to reboot several times a day. It is very annoying. It doesn't seem to matter what function I am using. Apple needs to address this problem or will lose their loyal fan base. It seems there are glitches in their recent updstes! 😠

I'm having the same trouble too. Just within the last hour I've reset & restarted my phone 5 times cause it freezes or lags. I don't know what to do anymore... Possibly considering a new phone but I can't afford a new one. 😟

just throwing in my solution - for me it was >20,000 unread messages. iphone 5 locks up when it tries to sync emails (very sporadic). I made all my emails read through the webinterface and now the iphone is happy as a clam.

I purchased this iPhone 5 a few years back. It worked well. The last update I had to do on this, did something to this. now I press the home button umpteen times before it finally pulls up the unlock screen. my unlock works, but sometimes my messages won't let me type.

If I leave it plugged in, and need to answer the phone, or send a text. forge it. I have to unplug it and then do it. If I miss a important call, than I have to call and find out who it was. pain in the arse.

I do know this, my next phone won't be an apple anymore. they aren't as good as they once was. I don't like the big phones that look like a **** tv or tablet. I just like the smaller versions of smart phones. So I will be going elsewhere here in about three months.

I have plugged this into ITunes, I cloud. I tried to update, restore all kinds of stuff and it just makes it worse.

Sounds like my problem too. It's as if I kept tapping on the screen immediately above the Home button. I wonder if I have a bug in my phone. Is there a virus-scan or malicious code checker ... maybe slipped through your App-vetting process?

TThe Emoji fix worked for me. Go to settings, general, keyboard, then delete the emoji keyboard then restart the phone. After restarting you can reinstall emoji from the same location under 'add new keyboard'.
