My VW Golf starts the music player on my iphone as soon as it makes the bluetooth connection for the handsfree phone. On a long drive, this consumes a lot of battery power unnecessarily. I don't need to wirelessly stream music from my phone so I'd like to disable airplay. Any idea how?

Turn off blutooth.. in settings.
Air play is for you tv or computer.
I think you missed the point. I want bluetooth on for the handsfree phone connection. So ...no, that doesn't work.
No, airplay IS bluetooth. Re-read the original post to better understand the issue. Thanks for trying.
I see. Does your vehicle have the blutooth in a navigation system, if so, my vehicle has a setting that allows connect blutooth for phone, or connect blutooth for music, or connect blutooth for both. Do you have that setting in your vehicles system?
No, unfortunately not. That would be the perfect solution, but VW only has the one bluetooth pairing option. Great idea though.
You are using the A2DP profile of BlueTooth to connect to your car and play music, not Airplay.
Have you tried deleting all pairings with your iPhone on your car and ditto on the iPhone and re-pairing?
Otherwise, check with VW and see if it is possible to disable A2DP on your car.
