Stop iOS keyboard from disappearing when typing text on websites?

I have the exact same problem as the original poster. I have an iPad 3 with iOS6. My problem seems to be more consistent when using Chrome but will also do it when I am using Safari. Yes this is extremely annoying. I use my iPad to trade stocks during the day time when I am at work. It can be very dangerous (and costly) to click on a link by mistake. One thing I have notice is that this happens to me most often when I am on a "secure" page but not sure if this has anything to do with it.

I really need to find a solution to this problem or I am going to have to find an alternative device to use. I did not have this problem before upgrading to iOS6. Is there a way to downgrade back to iOS5?

I'm having the same problem on my iPad 2. The first time I select a field to type into, the keyboard slides out. So I've been 1) selecting the field, 2)wait for the keyboard to disappear, 3)select it again, and only then can i continue typing. It happens no matter which browser I use, safari or chrome. I have noticed a slight "jump" when it happens. This s extremely annoying... Hopefully someone will post a fix...

I've had the disappearing keypad problem also. I finally realized it happened whenever the banner ad on the forum page I was typing on swapped for a new ad. Happens every time. I have no solution, as I just upgraded to the most recent OS yesterday and that didn't fix it.

It happens to me when I'm entering content on just about any form, including Google. No ad banner issue there.

I've noticed this problem on my 3rd Gen iPad after updating to iOS6.0.1. Keyboard always disappears when a new tab is opened and the google search box is tapped. Keyboard pops up then disappears instantly. Re tap and it comes back and stays up. Happens in every browser (I use Chrome) The solution I have found is to keep your finger on the search box for slightly longer (more a long press than a tap) and the box will stay in place every time. I've spent a while trying to find a solution to this with no luck so it would be nice to hear if it works for everyone with this problem as it can be extremely annoying.

I also have this problem on my iPad 1. Will try to press the box longer, as one user suggested, but other solution would be great too.

This works for me too. Acceptable as a temporary fix. It doesn't happen on my wife's iPad though. Just a guess, but I'm wondering if there's an app or plugin that causes this phenomenon.

I have the same issue on my IPAD 4. I use google chrome, and the keyboard keeps dropping.

I've just updated to iOS6.1 but the problem is still there. I've just noticed though that this problem only appears to happen when the iPad is in landscape mode. If I open a new tab in Chrome or Safari in portrait mode and tap the google search box then the keyboard stays up every time. Can anyone else confirm this is the case on their devices with the same issue.

By George, you're right. It only occurs in landscape mode on my iPad as well. Portrait mode works fine.

Strange isn't it. Can't figure it out at all. Doesn't appear to be a lot of answers from Apple support but I'm wondering if it's a problem caused by an installed app (imagine trying to sort that one out without a full reset).

Same here. Happens in forum's pull-down search field. Does not happen in a regular (static) fields. Everything was fine until today, after I upgraded from 5.1.1 to 6.1

Happens in portrait mode

I just wanted to echo how annoying this is, and seeing the first couple of posts of people without the problem further enraged me! (No offense) it's like having your tablecloth ripped away every time you're about to take a bite of dinner.

Nevermind, the keyboard drop out happens in portrait mode too. This is in google chrome. Safari seems ok but I swear I've seen it happen there too.
