Stop iOS keyboard from disappearing when typing text on websites?

Despite my previous optimism I can also confirm it happens in portrait mode but it seems to be less consistent so sometimes does and sometimes doesn't. My next step is to take my device to the local apple store and get an MOT on it to see if the clever chaps there (teenagers mainly) can fathom the issue.

Ok quick update on the keyboard issue. I've been experimenting with some free browsers and have tried both Puffin and Mercury. Neither of these browsers exhibit keyboard drop but interestingly neither does chrome or safari if I change my search engine to yahoo! Anyway I've decided on the Mercury browser for now and I'll update in the next day or so when I've had chance test consistency etc. It would be helpful if others with the same issue could install this browser and post back with results - doesn't look as though we will get an answer from Apple tech anytime soon.

Why isn't Apple not responding to this query and creating a solution for this? Isn't this the point of this forum? It's so annoying.

My mistake, I thought apple customer service posted on here as well.

Tried mercury... Still drops the keyboard there.

For me it's not random, it drops it every time!(when I load google.com in chrome)

I've now tried every browser I can think of and still have this problem. I have also just purchased an iPad mini and the same thing happens on that too. There are workarounds like long pressing the text box or flicking the search box upwards when you tap for the keyboard but I can find no permanent fix for this issue. Next step is apple tech support or back to the store for some advice. If anyone has already done this it would be useful to know.

This is happening because of JavaScript libraries and other page elements are being loaded from external sources. Each time it loads an external resource (ads, scripts, widgets etc) and the keyboard is up, it drops down.

You should wait until the page is fully loaded before starting to type.

It would be nice to have a keyboard "stay on top" button to prevent this

Just tried your theory-- it would seem that you're correct, at least in my experience. Just tried it in a couple different browsers, and when I wait for the page to completely load, I don't lose the keyboard.

There have been LOTS of app updates in the past few weeks. Something must have been changed which corrected the problem. I have done nothing different to my ipad and it is now working fine. This problem has been ongoing for many, many months.
