I live in an area where there is no LTE and I was wondering if I should turn my LTE off to save battery or will it be the same because I've noticed that my battery is draining pretty fast compared to my 4S on HSPA+.

Yes. Leaving it on in a low or no coverage area will suck your battery dry.
