Why didn't I receive an Amber Alert?

A little known update in iOS 6 is amber alerts and other emergency alerts. An amber alert was posted in my area but I did not receive an alert. I have the alerts on and notifications on. Is there something else I need to check or have people been missing alerts? This is a big issue in my opinion.

it doesn't take a genius to figure out that if there's an explosion, everyone within a mile would be alerted anyways, ...

with police cars, ambulances, and today...on the news, tweets, etc.

these alerts are just useless because they don't work. you are assuming people see the "red" TSA airports and think "oh , i gotta be careful now,,, the sign is red" 🙂

They are part of a carrier update that can't be refused per usual. They have been on Sprint, Verizon and other phones for more than a year. As I said you can turn them off EXCEPT for the presidential alerts whatever they might end up being (aliens attacking? Obamacare threat?) which you can't disable. If you go back to an iPhone 4 you won't get them as that phone is not WEA capable. Any new phone you buy in the future will have them built in and as of now you can disable 2 of them.

I have no idea what you are referring to with the TSA color alerts. If you receive an alert on your phone that is regarding a kidnapped child in a black Acura MDX, LP 134JUK, and that car happens to be in the intersection in front of you most people would report it. And it has occurred on many occassions. Getting information out to get more eyes helps. It isn't rocket science.
