My iphone 5 goes "no service".

When my iphone 5 goes out of network, "no service" shows. But the phone doesn't search for network, even if there is, untill I tell the phone to search for network. Why?

iPhone 5, iOS 6

My wife's phone has done this and now will not connect to EE in the UK. She updated to 6.0.2 and we think the phone has not had carrier signal since! My iPhone 5 is fine and updated and I think it is actually working better! Only difference between her phone and mine us that I have the white and she has the black! They are both 16gb.

Hi. I know this is an older post but hopefully this might help those who've just got iPhone 5. Firstly you need to delete reset text that your network provider sends to confirm all good to go. Don't know why. Then you have to switch off and on again. Then go into settings, general, mobile data (or equivalent sounding thing) and switch off "enable LTE" this stops it trying to find 4G. You should (technically) have uninterrupted service. I am just celebrating my 20th minute of actual signal. I don't know why it has to be this complicated, it just is. Good luck everyone.

Just got an iphone 5 today. I had service for a few hours until i upgraded the newest software on itunes and immediately after i had no service. it would say searching for a few seconds then no service. It stayed on no service all day. played around with it for hours. finally what worked was the Reset Networks. Under settings>general>reset>Reset Network Settings. Now i have rogers back and running. hopefully thats all it will take. hope this helps.

I've had my iphone 5 for two weeks now. Initially I had used a Finnish carrier Elisa. with 6.0.1. Then updated to 6.0.2. No problems experienced. Two days ago I changed to another carrier called Saunalahti, which actually uses the same network as Elisa. Started experiencing this "No Service" problem after visiting a garage where there is no signal for 10-20min period of time. Basically iphone just didn't connect to the network before using the Airplane off/on switch. I hope to see a fix to this ASAP. Basically this is an everyday problem for me.

It makes me sad to see this kind of really basic problems with Apple products. Apple, fix this soon!

I am with you on trying all of the fixes suggested here only for nothing to work. I have done all of the resets/restores, changed SIM cards, went to the Apple store in Frankfurt, and still my iPhone 5 64GB, stateside purchased unlocked still won't see my T-mobile carrier here in Germany. I have been working for almost 3 weeks now to get a fix and I am still in a holding pattern. T-Mobile of course says it is not their problem and that if I were to purchase an iPhone from them it would have worked perfect. Met a guy here that is in the same situation - only he has 2 5's that he bought via Apple store, same carrier, and he has tried all of the same fixes, only for his phones to not work either. Considering there are so many of us on here experiencing the same problem I am thinking that is has to be phone related, and not my carrier.

So now I am being told that the 1800MYAPPLE can't help me because I am stationed in Germany and that I need to go through the Germany apple number - which only speaks to me in German and I have no clue what they are saying. Nice way to pawn me off somewhere that I can't garner any help from. Not to mention when I went to the Apple store in Frankfurt they said that they can't help me because my phone was bought in the states and I need to work all of my issues through them.

My iphone 5 goes "no service".
