My iphone 5 goes "no service".

When my iphone 5 goes out of network, "no service" shows. But the phone doesn't search for network, even if there is, untill I tell the phone to search for network. Why?

iPhone 5, iOS 6

Yep Ive the same issue here. for all this while ive been using my iphone 5 for like 4 weeks and everything's ok. But yesterday the 'No service' pop out out of sudden. Ive done everything with the resetting networks and restore using itunes and i also did have the replacement simcard from 3 Ireland.

Is the prob because of 3 simcard or the phone itself? I didn't try the vodafone, o2 or meteor simcard on my iphone. did anyone solve their prob?

PaulGee31, check page 1, posts 7 and 10. Even if it works when switching flightmode on and off for some of us, this still is not a "fix", only a workaround. Yesterday I went shopping, apparently I went into a store without coverage. 4 hours later I realise that I have been unreachable for quite some time. Switching flight-mode on and off realising you have 5 missed calls does little to actually help me.

Codestam: Well, this is not model-specific then. I have read threads from people using different carriers as well, so eventhough it is not available and extreemely frustrating it sees that the next iOS update migth be a solution when updating the software. It's starting to feel like this is most definetly software related, because if this would be hardware related it's suprising that som many people are experiencing the exact same issue.

I hope that some of the posters that are waiting for replacement modules will return att tell us if it solved the issue. I have read posts stating that it did actually solve the issue, and posts stating that it didin't. It's har to know if it's worth it so I would personally appreciate a large "body of proof" regarding this to see if it is worth it.

It would make me even more frustrated if I wait until iOS 6.1 and then realise that it does not solve the issue, having to return my unit!

I hope you all have a merry christmas! (lets see if more users will show up here after recieving their new iPhone 5:s from santa in the next couple of days 😉)

Hi. I know this is an older post but hopefully this might help those who've just got iPhone 5. Firstly you need to delete reset text that your network provider sends to confirm all good to go. Don't know why. Then you have to switch off and on again. Then go into settings, general, mobile data (or equivalent sounding thing) and switch off "enable LTE" this stops it trying to find 4G. You should (technically) have uninterrupted service. I am just celebrating my 20th minute of actual signal. I don't know why it has to be this complicated, it just is. Good luck everyone.

Just got an iphone 5 today. I had service for a few hours until i upgraded the newest software on itunes and immediately after i had no service. it would say searching for a few seconds then no service. It stayed on no service all day. played around with it for hours. finally what worked was the Reset Networks. Under settings>general>reset>Reset Network Settings. Now i have rogers back and running. hopefully thats all it will take. hope this helps.

I've had my iphone 5 for two weeks now. Initially I had used a Finnish carrier Elisa. with 6.0.1. Then updated to 6.0.2. No problems experienced. Two days ago I changed to another carrier called Saunalahti, which actually uses the same network as Elisa. Started experiencing this "No Service" problem after visiting a garage where there is no signal for 10-20min period of time. Basically iphone just didn't connect to the network before using the Airplane off/on switch. I hope to see a fix to this ASAP. Basically this is an everyday problem for me.

It makes me sad to see this kind of really basic problems with Apple products. Apple, fix this soon!
