My iphone 5 goes "no service".
When my iphone 5 goes out of network, "no service" shows. But the phone doesn't search for network, even if there is, untill I tell the phone to search for network. Why?

just had new iphone 5 still issues as before
Same for me. I have had a new sim and a replacement iPhone 5 but installing IOS 6.01 did not resolve the No Service issue. However, since doing a soft reset I have not had the No Service problem. I have been in areas where I know there is no network service and my iPhone 5 has shown No Service as expected. However, as soon as I go back into a service area, i get the signal back which wasn't happening before.
I've got theproblem of very laggish (at least 2 minutes) signal recovering after signal lost. Is it the same as others? (Moscow, Megafon operator)
I'm not sure but maybe apple uses 2 types of radiochips, for example, and one of them is buggy with the current firmware? Maybe we should post our hardware ID / serial (which one - don't know) and it could help to identify problem's dependency...
Got my replacement iphone 5 yesterday.
Today it get stuck in "no service".
I called applesupport and the guy I talked to told me that everyone that has had this problem (probably in sweden at least), has Three as provider.
And since I had this problem with another phone I had (HTC One X), I'm starting to think he is right about that it is something between Three and some phonemodels.
I've also had a replacement iPhone 5 from Apple, still have the No Service issue and I'm on Three in the UK. If it's specifically an issue with Three on certain mobile handsets,, then who's responsability is it to resolve the problem, Three or the handset manufacturer ?
Hi,
I'm also on Three UK.
I phoned Apple and they walked me through the 'Restore' process, to reinstall iOS 6.0.1 from a fresh copy downloaded via iTunes.
I did that on Saturday, and everything worked well for a few days... until yesterday I got the 'No Service' issue twice, and I've had it once today. On all three occasions, toggling airplane mode on then off restored my connection to the 3 UK network.
Why is this happening - it is so frustrating!
I wish Apple or Three would acknowledge it and deal with it - it's clearly a problem.
I use EE as network provider and already had my iphone 5 exchanged, but the problem persists. It looks to me it's either an iPhone 5 software issue or a problem with the sim.
6.0.1 does NOT resolve this issue.
I don't think it's a soft problem.
I don't see this bug when I use an iPhone 4, only when using the 4s or the 5.
if I'm not mistaken, the antennas in the 2 lates iphones are not configured the same way as the iphone 4.
May be the problem comes from the switch between the antennas.
That would be a software problem. The relevant question right now is whether the problem lies with the operators or with Apple. Since the problem occurs with various different network operators it's definitely up to Apple to address this.
We have 2 iphones 5 on the Three network with exactly the same problem as described. Tried all the usual tricks (reset of the Network settings, update to the latest iOS ...) but still no chance.
My friend with iPhone 4S on Three also has this problem.
I have a sim card from swedish operator "Telia" coming in a few days to test.
Since this problem seem to have been around even since the iPhone 4S on Three I'm seriously thinking about chaning operator (if Telia works that is).
It's still not working... iOS 6.0.1 updated and all orter possible solutions tried. Network connection is still "no service"! 3 blames Apple and Apple is not responding.
It's comforting that i'M not alone, that makes me think that Apple/3 can't ignore this forever!
Same here, new iPhone 5 Canada with Rogers. Always no service or only one bar at most. Sometime wifi just disappears by itself and restores 20 seconds later...IOS 6.01 didn't solve any issue!!! Shame on you, and where is the google map google developed for iPhone 5???. I kinda regret to purchase the iPhone 5...maybe Samsung Galaxy S3 will be a better choice...
Same problem here. iPhone 5 on EE in the UK. Never had this issue with previous iphones and droids. Relly annoying cos everytime i go to the basement it loses signal and I have to toggle airplane. If i forget, it can be stuck on no service for hours. Pretty tempted to get rid and get the Nexus 4 due to this issue. One thing a phone should do is be a phone!
