Mac Book Pro Fans Running High 600RPM? OS 10.7.5 Help Please

Hello,

Two days ago I started experiencing the fans on my computer started to pick up and sound like they are running at a high level. I had a friend tell me to download a widget named istatpro where it shows me details of what my computer is doing. It says my fans are running at 600RPM which I've tried doing research on the web and it's not suppose to be doing this. I don't know why it is, and I would like to fix this issue. I have done several things:

The first thing I did was Reset the SMC. It did not work.

The second thing I did was Reset the PRAM. And of course that did not work.

Does anyone know why this is happening? What can I do to fix this issue before dragging this giant computer to apple?

Here's what I'm running:

Power MAC

Mac OS X 10.7.5 - Cannot upgrade to Mt Lion

Processor 2x2.66 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon

Memory 8GB 667 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM

If in anyone can help that would be great.

What does iStat Pro indicate as the temperatures?

Thank you for your quick response, however I followed the steps and there is nothing running over 70% on my CPU.

Mac HD : 36

HD: HD 2 32

CPU A: 23

CPU B: 126

Ambient: 20

Expansion Slots: 23

HD Bay 1: 24

HD Bay 2: 24

FANS: 599RPM

Exhaust: 2788RPM

CPU Fan: 2734 RPM

HD/Expansion: 499RPM

Can we get some clarification? This is all over the place!

---First the title says this is a MacBook Pro (a notebook model).

---Then you say its a "PowerMac" running 10.7.5. PowerMacs (discontinued in 2005-6 ) cannot run any OS higher than 10.5.8.

---But your Processor info matches a Mac Pro.

It sounds like you have a Mac Pro (2006 through today). If so, let us know and we'll get the Hosts to move this to the Mac Pro forums. If someone does not notice you have a newer Mac than this forum covers, you could get bad info.

Thank you, I create a new thrad here https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4409770 as I realized my mistake. Sorry for the confusion, it is a Mac Pro. As I have both types of computers and for some reason put Mac BOOK Pro when in fact it's my Mac PRO that is having the trouble. I made the repost with the correct heading.

Did you see the difference between CPU A and CPU B ??

If that is not a transcription error, it looks like you have a Bad sensor, probably on CPU B. Or maybe A ?

Looks like the sensor needed to be unplugged and the replugged back in. Took it into Apple Genius Bar. They fixed it for free. Thanks for the help everyone!
