Yes hold the app your want to delete till it jiggles and then tap the X and ok then its deleted.
yes, if you just touch the app and hold it then an "x" will pop up. just click that and it will ask if you are sure you would like to delete it.. press yes and then you have deleted apps directly from your phone

If there is No 'X' on any apps you have Downloaded... then check in Restrictions... Settings > General > Restrictions > Deleting Apps = Off / On
