Sync Pages on my MacBook to iCloud.

I only own a MacBook Pro, which I just got over the summer. I have Pages on it, and apparently I can sync that to iCloud? I feel like I can't do that. When I log on to iCloud online, it has a link for iWork, and it requests for me to buy it again from the iTunes store (which, isn't that only for iPad/iPhone)? I just want to save my files automatically online, which is why I got Pages in the first place. So, how do I sync Pages to iCloud is my question.

Thank you.

You need an Apple ID. You should have Pages '09 v4.2, or update (free) to it if you do not have this version. Disregard that buy it again notice from the iWork icon on the iCloud web site.

In System Preferences > iCloud, Check the items you want to sync (particularly Documents & Data) with iCloud. Sign in to your iCloud account through this preference pane. Stay signed in as long as you wish to sync with iCloud.

Launch Pages '09 v4.2. My startup dialog looks like the following, which for me, I have set to local. You would select the indicated iCloud button on the top panel, and the New Document button on the bottom panel.

That “New Document” button will bring up the familiar template or blank document dialog box. When you are done with the document, you would choose File > Save ... This produces a drop down panel in Pages as follows, with the default destination set to iCloud.

Once saved, your Pages documents saved to iCloud are visible in that iCloud.com iWork folder, or are shown again to you on subsequent launches of Pages.
