need some guidelines as to how to take advantage of rules in outlook/exchange while not having to view all folders on iphone to check for new mail
iPhone 5, iOS 6
Hello,
I was experiencing the same issue. I created rules for my outlook emails to go into folders, and had a smart folder that searched for unread emails. This caused all of the emails to go into the folders with rules but I would not receive them on my phone. Follow the steps listed by KhanLala . IOS 7 find the Fetch New Data > Select your Exchange account > Check off all of your sub folders you want to push to your Iphone.
i believe that this will only put them into their respective folders on the iphone and will not be included in the unread mail folder
It does, but I get a push alert on my phone now from all folders I selected and not just the inbox.
I upgraded to iOS7, now when i check mail, the server side rules are being applied, and the folder is showing a (X) for the number of emails. However, mail app will not 'notify' me that I have mail in these folders. I have to scroll through them all and look to see if any have a number next to them.
It's far from perfect, but better than before.
If you edit your rule to make it client side it will do what you want as long as Outlook is closed.
Just edit the rule and check "Display a desktop alert" and now its client side.
It helped me out as I had a lot of sub folders as well and was missing messages when out of the office.
I found an important note on this set up.
If the folder has a slash in it "/" the iOS notification WILL NOT WORK.
Renamed the folder in Outlook and reset my phone. Fixed the problem.
