Exporting photos from Mail to iPhoto stopped working

Looks like the "export to iphoto" process may have gotten jinked up in 9.5.1. The pinwheel of death starts in immediately and it takes FOREVER to open iPhoto (depending on how many pics you have & size) but it will eventually complete. Mail is "not responding" in Activity Monitor while compiling the import.

MRYFLYGUY, I am not an expert by any means, but in saying that. Did you try what Bruce2125 suggested? I am thinking you probably did. I am running Mavericks and iPhoto 9.5.1 and his soulution has worked for me. I have to export one photo at a time and then they appear in "Last import", but it works. Granted it's slow, but it works.

I also had trouble with the dreaded "pin wheel". I just went into "Users and Groups" clicked on the "Login Items" tab and removed "itunes helper", but that's all I had in there. Now though, no more "Spinning Wheel Of Death" mocking me. I can always add back "itunes helper" if need be, just don't need it now though.
