how to turn off vibrate for alarm on iphone 5 ios 6?

with the release of the iphone 5, apple changed the dock connection...so i can no longer use it with my ihome alarm clock without an adapter.

since apple has not yet made available the adapter, i've been using alarm in the clock app to wake-up.

i love that i can set the alarm to a song...but i do not like that it vibrates when the alarm goes.

how do i turn off the vibration for the alarm on my iphone 5 running ios 6?

thanks.

Turn vibrate off all together in settings, sounds, vibrate off on both ring and silent.

I should have a solution for you.

Do not change any settings. It will not matter if you activate or deactivate vibration when phone is silent or not.

You have to go in the clock application and make sure you select a song rather than a ringtone. Of course for this to work you have to have bought or uploaded songs on your iPhone.

If you pick a song and not a ringtone your phone will not vibrate when the alarm goes on.

Hope this will work for you!

The vibration is attached to the ringtone. Just pick a different ringtone for your alarm than your phone ring. For example, I have strum for my alarm... So I went into settings, sounds, and chose to edit strum and under vibration pattern pick none. That way you can leave your phone settings on vibrate with ring. And only that alarm ringtone won't have the vibration.

@surfklein, half of the solutions hacks here did not understand your requirement. To restate, it's to disable the vibrate on ONLY the alarm yet keep the vibrate+ring on for incoming calls, with both states set simultaneously. This is clear to me from reading what you wrote. I too have a nice song slected for my morning alarm, so I don't want vibrate to ruin my song BUT I do want vibrate and ring to occur if I get a call. Do this without having to toggle features back and forth everytime, which we get, but is asinine because to do one cancels the other. NONE of the replies here answers this requirement if you read and understood what surfklein wrote. It is not possible at this time.

I don't know if I'm frustrated more by this lack of logic/common sense setting or by what goes on inside apple's feature dev team or the attention deficit in reading the problem.

I hd no choice but to get the app called 'alarmed' which understood this feature.

Anyway, here is my fix.

I tend to use different tones for ring tone and alarm. Otherwise I'd mistake the alarm for an incoming call and try to answer it. And how silly is that? So this works for me.

Go to Settings/Sounds/Sound and Vibration Patterns/Ringtone. Make sure the tones you use for alarms have vibration set to None. Set the vibration pattern for your ringtones as you like them. Now your alarms will not vibrate but your ringtones can still be set to vibrate by switching Settings/Sounds/Vibrate on Ring to On.

Done.

If you wish to keep vibrate on when in silent, only turn off vibrate on ring. Just turn you ringer on whenyou go to sleep. This seems to work for me. If you dont want any calls and thats why you keep silent on at night, then just turn do not disturb on. You can even set it for specific times for example: turn on at 10:00 Pm and turn off at 6:00 Am. Hope this helps more if you tend to like vibrate during the day.
