how to turn off vibrate for alarm on iphone 5 ios 6?

with the release of the iphone 5, apple changed the dock connection...so i can no longer use it with my ihome alarm clock without an adapter.

since apple has not yet made available the adapter, i've been using alarm in the clock app to wake-up.

i love that i can set the alarm to a song...but i do not like that it vibrates when the alarm goes.

how do i turn off the vibration for the alarm on my iphone 5 running ios 6?

thanks.

iPhone 5, iOS 6

Turn vibrate off all together in settings, sounds, vibrate off on both ring and silent.

Dan - I agree that is not convenient; however I found one that circumnavigates those issues. Try "Yocto Clock". If shut down it will pass your alarm settings to the standard alarm as a backup. Also, it doesn't need to be set daily.

And it is free; so there's nothing to lose by giving it a shot.

With all that said, I too wish the standard alarm had the option to shut off the vibration and just play my music; but until that is fixed, this seems to work for me.

Best,

I concur with everyone else. This is a serious everyday problem with an easy fix that Apple has somehow either overlooked or just simply neglected. Like others have said, this issue could be fixed simply with a software update, adding a feature in the 'sounds' menu to turn on/off vibrate for the alarm.

While it is not the perfect fix, I find it easiest to deal with this problem by turning off vibrate on silent and switching to silent mode before bed to avoid the alarm vibration. While this does silence texts, calls and other notifications, it seems like the simplest fix we have right now. However, one is completely defenseless in the event of an emergency.

Apple should be paying attention to our overwhelming customer complaints and trying to come up with a permanent fix. We're at iOS 7 Apple, pull it together!

I believe this may not be considered exactly the right place to post regarding iOS 7, but there is a way with the latest 7.1.1 update. Here is the permanent solution: Settings > sounds > uncheck "Vibrate on Ring". Now, set your alarm and leave your phone on Ring mode when you sleep. Turn on the "Do Not Disturb" feature. Now, your alarm tones will ring without the phone vibrating, plus this doesn't affect most people because when you use Ring mode you can make do with the vibration being always off. You may also go to Settings > Do Not Disturb, to customize this feature to your liking.

I think people are missing the point here. All these "work arounds" inhibit your phone from behaving normally. Having to toggle different settings to make a particular function work just diverts attention from the problem at hand: a missing switch from the native Alarm App. My solution is a custom made phone hammock that alleviates the annoying vibrate in the morning.

I cannot believe, almost two years on, i_dont_know how many updates, new OS, and this sh**ty problem hasnt been solved yet. Dont need to say that is kind of a mayor issue. i wake up everyday cursing my phone! This is shamefull, and a complete letdown from apple to its customers whom are paying a premiun price for using its products.

Then I guess, you should switch it back if you want to know that you have a call when on silent... and, let's say, you are at a movie theater, or what not....

but otherwise, yes it works. Now my weird noise collage that helps me ease into wake will play without freaking me out. Otherwise, that there is a vibrating phone monster who insists that I awake immediately.

THabks.
