I have the iphone 5. My carrier is Sprint. I can get email only when connected to wi-fi. When no wi-fi is available I get a pop up message that says: cannot get mail. no internet connection available.
I am sure I am just missing a setting or something to correct this. Any ideas?

There is a setting on your phone to have the Cellular not use the LTE. My phone would go in and out of service because it was searching for the LTE signal which isn't everywhere right now.
So go to SETTINGS > GENERAL > CELLULAR > ENABLE LTE > OFF
Thanks, Steffany, I will try that. That sounds plausible, as it seems like this often happens when switching between LTE and 4G or WiFi.
I did a full restore last week and have not installed any software other than what was included with iOS. The phone was OK for a little while but soon repeated the same problem, which confirmed my suspicion that this was a hardware issue.
