Powerbook G3 (Pismo) & OSX Tiger

Hi

I have a 500mhz G3 Pismo. I've upgraded the HardDrive to 60Gig 7200rpm and the RAM is 640mb. I'm running OSX 3.9 but I stopped updating there because I was worried that Tiger might be a paw (sorry-step) too far for this computer?
Can anyone inform me as to whether installing the latest version of Tiger might cause problems or slow my powerbook down as compared to OSX 3.9 ?

Many thanks

Barry

I installed Tiger on a Pismo worry free ( once I realized it). I had a separate 5gig partition empty and installed it. I still have panther as usual and still using it. The first advantage I noticed was being able to use each Disk utility for repairs now. Once panther broke from a power outage and would not bootk, to I booted into tiger and disk utility fixed it. Otherwise tiger is a little to slow for me and I can,t figure out the search function or turn it off.

HELP!
I am supposed to be a MAC guru but my G3 Prismo is giving me a fit! My son uses it and needed a larger hard drive. I upgraded the drive to 80gb, went through the restore scenario, upgraded the firmware and was ready for Tiger. I bought Tiger for the computer at the Apple store and tried to load it. I keep getting a grey screen with ablack rectangle in the middle - nothing else - no sounds - no joy! I asked the Apple Store GURU to help and was told they don't support G3s

It only has 256 RAM but if I can't get Tiger to load, I don't want to spend the money for RAM.

Can anyone help me? I hate to throw the computer in the trash pile, it passes the hardware testing and works fine in OS9.

Thanks
Bob Holt
