Disable Facebook birthday notifications

Okay so I like the Facebook integration in that it updates the address book with pictures and stuff, but I do not want daily reminders popping up on my desktop (or iPad/iPhone), that some of my 400 Facebook friends have a birthday coming up in a day or two.

No matter what I do they still pop up. Have unticked the birthday calendars all over the place, to no avail.

So besides disabling the FB integration completely, is there any other way of getting rid of these?

Open up your Calendar app and you'll see 'Birthdays' listed under subscriptions in the Calendar list. Delete this subscription completely to remove the notifications.

If you can't see the Calendar list, click View > Show Calendar List

I have been trying to solve this problem for months.

I have unticked 'Birthday Calendar' in my Calendar app.

There is an entry for 'Birthdays' in the Calendar app too but when I try to delete it it is greyed out and can't be deleted

I have set birthday alerts to 'none' in the main settings for mail, contacts, calendars

I'm guessing I need to remove the 'Birthdays' entry within the calendar app but as it won't let me delete it I don't know what to do.

Any ideas? It's getting incredibly annoying.

Thanks.

I had the same issue on my macbook and just changed it to no longer pop up for every birthday the day prior. Open your calendar app and choose "Calendar" (top left in the upper menu bar) then "Preferences." A pop up box will come up and choose "Advanced." When there, you'll see an option to choose which calendar account you'd like to edit (i.e. iCloud, etc.) and you'll have the option to "none," "on day of event at 9am," etc. If you choose "none" it should stop all birthday notifications from popping up in the future.

I've been having the problem as well, which just a slight difference. I have turned off all notifications and alerts for Birthdays. I've unchecked the "birthday calendar", and even though it's not checked, I've changed the alerts to none. It seems to work for a few days, then all of a sudden the calendar has reverted back to being checked, and sending alerts. Is there a way to delete the "birthday" calendar from "my calendars." I don't need my phone to make noise and alert me when some person on facebook has a birthday.
