You mean you bought a pair Bose speakers and an apple
iPod docking Station, or a Bose sounddock system?

Have your tried to do a Reset for your iPod yet?

Yes, I mean a pair of Bose (Companion 2) multimedia speakers and an apple ipod docking station. I haven't tried resetting the ipod bcos it works as usual when its removed from the docking station.

I believe it is not a problem of your iPod docking station, are you connecting the dock with your computer? See what happens it you unplug the cable between the dock and the computer.

Seems that your iPod will show "do not disconnect" if you plug it directly with your computer.

If it is the case then you have to solve your iPod's problem before connecting with the dock station.

Check the following

1. Make sure the cables plugged completely between the dock and the speakers
2. Check the detachable power pack. It should also completely plugged into the power speaker and the wall outlet
3. Adjust the source volume and make sure it is not set to mute
4. Be sure the volume of the bose isn't set too low
5. Make sure headphones are not plugged into the bose's headphone jack
