When I did my rough, rough cut, my timeline was 10 minutes long. I have since edited my video down to five minutes. Now I have five minutes of dead space trailing my five minute video. How do I snip those five minutes off the end?
"Select" and "Delete" worked for me... but one important detail.
The "Delete" key above my arrows keys (and under the "help" key) did nothing.
The "Delete" key (aka backspace) actually worked.
Note: Using an old Apple bluetooth keyboard with number keys.
Please post some screen shots of what you/re seeing in the timeline. What exactly are you doing and what makes you think there is something after the five minutes? How long is the project? Have you used PluralEyes with the media?
This worked, but I still don't understand why Apple makes this so complicated? It's almost as bad as removing your payment method from ITunes - instead of adding a simple "remove" button next to "edit", you actually have to click 'edit' and then select 'none' among multiple credit card logos.

I tried that and it didn't work. I also and enlisted my tech savvy friend to solve this mystery as well. We both agree that it isn't obvious how one accomplishes this.
Go to the end point you want, type "I" (for In point), note the remainder of the track that you want to dete is highlighted in yellow, click delete. Poof. Gone.
The one above help is the forward delete key, which is replace with Gap Clip in FCP.
