Problems Transferring Files Larger Than 1GB Using SMB

Hi All,

I noticed that in 10.8.2, when I try to copy large files particularly greater than 1GB from my PC to my Mac using SMB (the PC is the one making the operation of copy & paste) , it fails to continue with the error message "There is a problem accessing \\COMPUTERNAME\SHARENAME. Make sure you are connected to the network and try again. However, when my Mac is the one doing the copy and paste operation, it continues without any problem. Any ideas why they behave as such?

Mac mini, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

I just tried something suggested elsewhere online on my Win 7 box and I was able to copy from my Mac mini server down to this PC without a problem.

Open a command prompt and type the following:

netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled

( =normal is the default setting in case you wish to go back )

This seems to work for copying files down only, however. I tried to send the ISO I had copied back to the server and it errored out again. 😐

Happy to say that updating to Maverick and updating the OS X Server app solved this issue, finally!

File transfer speeds are not affected in any way for me (around 110Mb/s with a Gigabit network) and no more stupid "There is a problem accessing \\COMPUTERNAME\SHARENAME. Make sure..." error message.

Shame that we got to shell another $20 to update the app to work with Maverick though, even if Maverick itself is free.

Good to hear... I'll grab the new update to the Server app and see how it goes on my network.
