How do I create a .csv file on my mac?

I am having issues doing some reporting. I have a file that I pull from safari- I need to be able to put this into numbers. Typically, in windows, I would paste the info onto a notepad and save as .csv, then open again in numbers.

So--I can't save in pages like that-- and I can't get it to past in numbers correctly. Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks

Interestingly enough, if a text file is tab-delimited (or otherwise delimited as well), if I choose Open from within Excel 2011 and then select the text file, Excel will present an import wizard which allows me to specify the parameters and end up with the delimited field contents in cells.

This Excel feature is handy. I am going to give Apple feedback with an enhancement request for Numbers.

To add CSV or OFX data to an open spreadsheet:

  1. Select a sheet.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • To create one or more new tables, drag a CSV or OFX file from the Finder onto the sheet’s canvas.
    • To add CSV or OFX data to an empty table, drag the CSV or OFX file onto the table. The data is added; additional columns are created if necessary.
    • To add CSV or OFX data to a table that contains data, drag the CSV or OFX file onto the table. If the columns don’t match, choose an option from the sheet that appears. You can cancel the import, add columns to the table, ignore extra columns, or create a new table from the CSV or OFX data.
