Scanner recommendation for 1000s of slides?

Hello All,

I posted here because this is a graphics questions. I recently aquired 3000+ slides from my grandparents who just moved into a retirement community. I have been using an Epson scanner to scan one slide at a time for previous projects, but as you can imagine, that's pretty tedious.

I wonder if anyone here can recommend a scanner that would allow me to scan several slides at a time. Of course, I am looking for something reasonable in price, preferably under $500. Anyone with any first-hand expierence?

Thanks in advance for any and all advice.

Adam

I whole heartedly recommend the Nikons with bulk feeders (software is slightly quirky on PC). It took me nearly 18 months some years ago to scan 10k+ slides one at a time when I thought I couldn't afford a bulk feeder...A year ago I upgraded and got the newer scanner with the feeder. Catching up on a year + of slides in a day made me sick thinking of all the time I wasted when I initially took my film digital.
Spend the $1500, spend a couple weeks feeding the loader whenever you remember, then sell the setup on ebay if you have no further use for it.
