Director Player Error?

I'm wondering if anyone else is having this problem - just occurred since updating to 10.4.6 (using Software Update from 10.4.5).

I have a G5 quad and can no longer play several games that were working fine before updating - I get the following error message:
Director Player Error
Handler not found in object
#play
Script Error. Continue? (no / yes)

Clicking "No" quits the game - clicking yes leaves the game open, but then it's inoperable - nothing works.

I checked already with the games manufacturers - no help there - just the usual uninstall/reinstall which didn't work. I repaired permissions, verified the disk, etc.

I'm not having any other problems (that I've discovered yet anyway) - just this one, but it's annoying because at the end of my workday I like to wind down with a few rounds of some mindless games and a beer. 😟 😟

Any suggestions?

I had to find the proprietary folder for this particular CD
(located in Preference Folder of Library) trash it and empty the trash.
I then rebooted the educational CD and had to re-enter the unique password and my ID. Now CD functions perfectly well.

i had an email back from big fish and they said that i needed the newest version of macromedia flash player (8) but i am now having problems installing this,can anyone help me?
I have installed(well thought i had )but on my desktop i still have 'install flash player 8'..but yet i have pressed the install button and a web page comes up saying that flash player is installed...yet it still says install flash player 8 on my desk top!!!!HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!

I had the same problem with Prime Suspects--I kept getting a director player error message that said the program was stopping because of too many errors.
At the suggestion Big Fish mac support, I copied the game from the DMG folder into a new folder on my hard drive. Now the game runs perfectly. Hope this helps.

I'd like to echo what Fresta said:
if you put the application Mystery Case Files Prime Suspects on your HD, instead of putting it in Applications, it will work just fine!
(and this was after I tried everything...Shock Player, Flash Player, etc., ad nauseum.)
Let's hope the game people are working on better code for it.

I migrated a game from my Powerbook to my new MacBook Pro. The game worked perfectly until I tried to do a FLASH 8 upgrade... after that I get this identical error!!

Seems to me that something in the FLASH upgrade might be doing this? I havn't confirmed that, but that is the only thing I can think of that would have changed and that I have done.

I'm having the identical problem, have done all of the updating, etc., but moving the program to the Hard drive didn't fix the problem. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

I did everything suggested in the previous messages and my Prime Suspects still will not play. I keep getting the Director Player Error - This program is stopping because too many errors have occoured. Is there any other fixes??
