iTunes won't sync my music, movies, ringtones... Anything!

My iTunes pretends like it finished syncing successfully. However, none of my media (songs, videos, ringtones, books) ends up on my iPhone.

When I click on my iPhone (in iTunes) or shows all of the files that are supposed to be there. However, they are all greyed out and have a little icon with arrows going in a circle next to them.

What's worse is that my iTunes treats my iPhone as if that data space is already full, and shows me that my phone is nearly full even it is actually quite empty.

I haven't been able to sync Music or Podcasts for some time. I tried everything from restoring, to resetting, to trying to sync to a different computer.

This is what I did.

1. Download iFunBox (or other utility that gives you access to the filesystem)

2. Delete the _iTunes_Control folder

3. Delete everything in the Purchases folder

4. Force a sync in itunes

Itworked perfectly. Apple support is disappointing. I'd be toast without the community.

I just realized I was having the same problem and after researching I found a post that helped me here (http://appducate.com/2012/12/troubleshoot-an-ios-device-that-wont-sync-in-itunes /).

For me it was as simple as {If your music isn’t syncing, go to the Music tab in your iOS devices window in iTunes and uncheck “Sync Music”. Click Apply. Once done, check “Sync Music”. Try the same thing if it’s something else like your Movies that isn’t syncing.} mentioned in the article. This allowed my Music and Movies to Sync! Sometimes the simplest fix is the one that works.

I hope this is helpful to someone else and saves them hours of frustration!

I had the same problem, or at least a part of it. When I tried to put songs on my iPhone, it simply didn't happen. My iPhone synchronised and it said it was done, but none of the songs I meant to put on it were there.

When I looked at the songs of my iPhone on my computer they were also greyed out, instead of just black.

None of the things on here helped, so I started searching myself. And I found it!

I ticked off the little boxes on my original playlist (not the one of my iPhone) which caused it to not add them.

So if you have the same problem, make sure you checked the little boxes in front of the song in order to add them!

I hope this helps a few of you out!

After trying every suggestion in the forum, I finally came up with one that worked for me.

In itunes, select your iphone under Devices in the left column. Now select the music tab at the top of the page. Uncheck "Sync Music". A dialog box pops up asking you if you are sure you don't want to sync your music. Select "Remove". Now reselect "Sync Music". Your phone should now begin to sync automatically unless you have manual sync selected in which case you have to select sync to start the process.

As a computer technician, I've encountered this strange behavior in many dialog boxes in applications, especially Windows. Just because a box is checked doesn't mean it's really checked. This happens most often after an application is upgraded or a patch is applied. Hope this helps.

I had similiar issues. My music wont sync, I also have a large chuck of storage taken up by "other". Ihave tried many restore, and nothing work. I found that the large chuck of storage taken up by "other" is probably corrupt music files somehow just sit in the phone and cause problem. I tried to delete it using iFunbox but still not working.

My latest attemp and it worked. I "restore the phone" and SET IT UP AS A NEW PHONE, DO NOT RETORE FROM a back up. However, after it is all done setting up as a NEW phone, I do a "restore backup" which bring all settting and files back. Now the corrupt file(the large chuck of storage taken up by "other") is gone, and the iphone is able to sync and funtion as normally. Give it a try... it work for me.
