No, sorry. I wish you could track it by serial number, but you can't. My iPod touch was stolen just this week (I had the Track My iPhone app on), and after talking with Technical Support I can honestly tell you that even if the app is on, it is completely useless for iPods. Trash. The app requires your iPod to be connected to WiFi; the catch is that if you have a pass code, then it can't even connect to WiFi, it has to be connect to a WiFi network it recognizes to be useful at all. Anyone can restore an iPod, which again, makes the app useless.
The only thing I can say is to register your iPod's serial number with your iCloud account, set up email notifications, and hope that the thief is stupid enough to being your iPod in for repair. If they do bring it in for repair, then Apple will contact you via the email you signed up with for iCloud. Have your police report and copy of registration ready to bring your iPod home.
