Pages 09 does not open in Template Chooser View

Pages 09 does not open in Template Chooser View

I must be missing something simple, but I can not get Pages 09 to open in Template Chooser view. It did when I first upgraded to 09, but now it will only open in Finder view. I've clicked everything and searched Preferences but there does not seem to be a way to get back to opening with the Template Chooser. I can click New Document, but according to the Pages 09 video at Apple, that's not how it works. Any help would be appreciated.

iMac (21.5-inch Late 2009), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2), IOS6, Apple TV2, Airport

Joe,

What you see is a Mountain Lion effect. Just type Command-N to jump from there to your Template Chooser.

So in Mountain Lion it is not possible to get Pages to open directly in Template Chooser. Do you know the thinking behind that because the Video Tutorial clearly shows Pages opening in Template Chooser.

Joe,

It might be possible to open directly to the Chooser, but I don''t know how. I believe that the opening sequence in the video was made long before ML was released.

Good timing because I think I just figured out what is going on after I came across this Apple KB Article.

From the Article:

If you have iCloud enabled on your computer, you may not see the Template Chooser when you first open Pages. Click New Document at the bottom of the Open dialog.

So I think it's because I have iCloud Documents & Data enabled in System Preferences. I can't test it out because when I uncheck Documents & Data I get the message below and I can't loose any documents in order to test.

This makes sense because when I upgraded to Pages 09, I had ML already installed and Pages opened in Template Chooser. After enabling Documents & Data that's when the Finder View became default.
