Try to Java Preference under Utilities folder and enable the Java versions

The Java Preference is not there, unfortunately.

are you on Mountain lion? If so and you dont have the preferences, are there java preferences in your System Settings app?

Either way i can get you the app onto your ftp so you can add it where it needs to be. You 'should' have the preferences in one of the two places.

Yes, OS X 10.8.2. I restored now the java preferences 14.4.0 in the utilities folder (from Timemachine).

But I can't start it:

I first removed the \Library \Internet-plugins - java plug in there. I also removed the java folders from /Library and /System/Library and rebooted. I doublechecked that java was not still installed from the terminal screen.

I installed that dev pack and i was able to get it all back to the original 1.6.0_35 including the internet plug-in for firefox.

Certainly I did that first. But if I remove the JavaPlugIn in '/Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins', I delete also the JavaPreferencePane. If I don't remove the PlugIn, I have the JavaPreferencePane but I can't see there the 1.6 JRE from the dev pack.

The Question is also: How can I keep the JavaPreferencePane (from Java 1.7) and enable there the 1.6 JRE from the dev pack? Is any symbolic link required?

I disabled the Java upgrade following the instructions at <http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5559> and now I have the following: java version "1.6.0_35" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_35-b10-428-11M3909) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 20.10-b01-428, mixed mode). Yet I can't use my bank-client app, because Firefox plug-in is missing. How can I get it back? The 1.7 plug-in naturally, doesn't work because the bank requires 32-bit Java. Try loading the site on google chrome.

There is a way to restore java 7. Just scroll down to the bottom of the page.

Pushler cannot use the Java 7 Plugin and is trying to restore the one from Java 6.
