Hi,
I just got an iPhone 5, and am new to iPhone in general. I have noticed that when I'm away from wi-fi and try to check my email (using the Mail app) it always says there is no Internet connection available. Shouldn't it connect via 3G when I'm not connected to wi-fi? My email is Gmail, and I'm on the Sprint network.

Its an annoying fix tho, because it will cause your phone to lose all of its saved wifi passwords.

I, too, have the same issue, and am on Sprint.
I've found the quickest way to fix it is to kill just the Mail app. (From the Home screen, double-click the Home button to display all running apps, hold on the Mail icon until the 'x' appears, then click the 'x'.) Then, relaunch Mail, and all is well.
Had the same problem. Called Sprint, they;
1. Reset my network settings
2. Deleted my email account
3. Did a service update
4. Recreated my email

That is weird though. I have a Sprint 4S with 3 different email accounts (exchange, gmail, IMAP) and no problems with fetch over 3G
