It is probably impossible to say why the iPad will not remember your WiFi passwords.

Have you tried forgetting the network? Settings>WiFi>Tap the network name>Forget this network..... or tried resetting network settings? Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings.

If you try either of those, you will have to find your WiFi network/s again and rejoin them.

Or reset all settings? Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again.

Thanks, this works fine with my new iPad4 Retina, which also wouldn't save the wifi password when I entered it against our (Netgear) wifi identified during the process.

A friend from the US with iPad who visited last year also had this prob when trying to access internet through our wifi and had to keep reentering the password every time. At the time we assumed it might be something to do with her iPad, or its interface with Netgear, but now we know different..when it happened with my new one a few days ago it only took a quick Google to find out that this seems to be a fairly widespread issue, and to find your quick fix.

Also, we shouldnt even have to have gone Googling - the Apple helpline staff who helped with some aspects of iPad setup, when told/asked about the problem, just said "well it should save it". T

The problem (and now the solution) are clearly known about and Apple should a) be paying attention to what's going on on its own "Support Communities" site, b) ensuring that helpline staff are being kept up to date with something as fundamental as this and c) including appropriate guidance in the written documentation enclosed with the shipped unit.

Thanks again - and if Apple is monitoring this, please get a grip.

Thanks for the tip. It was so frustrating... I only have this problem with the ipad recently; it worked fine before at retaining my Wi-Fi SSID and password. I don't have this issue with my iphone or any other device in my home.

I tried: 1. Resetting [pushing Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously to restart] and putting the SSID and password back in...didn't work.

2. Resetting and putting the password under "other" network...didn't work.

3. Tried to look for a way to add my ipad to my computer or router's networking...couldn't find a way.

4. Tried using Verizon In-Home Agent to troubleshoot...didn't help.

Resetting the network [Settings, General, Reset, Reset Network Settings...] and putting in my SSID and password again...finally worked in getting my ipad to retain my SSID and password setting each time I turn the ipad on again. Yay!! Thanks so much!! 🙂

I wonder what caused this problem all of a sudden?
