It is probably impossible to say why the iPad will not remember your WiFi passwords.

Have you tried forgetting the network? Settings>WiFi>Tap the network name>Forget this network..... or tried resetting network settings? Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings.

If you try either of those, you will have to find your WiFi network/s again and rejoin them.

Or reset all settings? Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again.

Just bought an iPad mini and had this same issue. Was told to reset settings, do a restore, and potentially swap out device. The solution was so much easier:

Settings —> WIFI —> Other

Then set up the EXACT same network and hit Join.

It overwrote the original WIFI network without prompts and the problem went away. Try this BEFORE you reset ANYTHING!

Let me know if it works for you.

I just want to thank you for the solution which worked for me.

I had the same problem with my wife's Ipad mini which kept losing our home wifi connection when the Ipad mini

was idle (the connection was fine when you were using the Ipad with the internet ..eg surfing or streaming).

I suspect there is a bug in the firmware of this Ipad mini, as I have never encountered this issue on my Iphone and my wife's old Ipad 2. Thanks again for the help!

Thank you for this solution!

Bought an iPad 4 at the weekend and every time I turned it off/back on or if it was idle, it was forgetting the wifi password and logging off so I had to retype my lengthy password each time.

Adding the network again under the "other" tab was the only fix! It has nothing to do with autojoin/proxy server issues as other threads have stated.

Thanks for your help!

My question is rather simular. At home I use my cable network provider's Wifi station and next to that I have installed a 2n (reapeating) Asus (1st floor) Same name, same password, but operating on different (selected) channels.

Sometimes it connects with an unfamiliar IP number and to an unknown to met Router.

Next to that, my kids have ipads as well. They live on their ow but we regularly visit eachother.

Everytime one of us visits the other, he/she has to go to all the network setting, including this horrible password.

Isn't there an app to create a list of networks, including ip adresses and passwords to select from?

I'm not referring to the apps that work on 'hotspot' base.

Looking forward to replies

I found my problem was that the Ipad or Iphone remember networks that they have joined and try to use the same configuration and password. When this fails they do not go down a list they simply make you put in the code. First fix. Make sure each network has a distinctive name. For instance if all of your networks are named linksys the device tries the codes associated with the first network introduced with this name. Why not call downstairs one name and upstairs another, then introduce the device to each floor separately and no mater where you are the device will join a network and have service. If you must use a name previously used by the device you need to go in to setup, unjoin and delete that network, then rejoin with the new pass code.

Hope this helps

@Out 2 Sea,

That's not what I intend.

I spent quite some time to figure out how to set up this 2nd AP, using the Ziggo (=my provider) as ain, cableing to upstairs (my non wireless pc) through the Asus Router.

Spending days on the web searchin I thought I had the solution.

Asus as Hybrid AP, using the DNS of the 'Ziggo' in order to have all machines on the same private network.

Main idea was:

Same ssid

Same password

Fixed channel

2nd AP NO DNS

There was one thing where opinions/tips didn't agree upon.

One party said: use 2 different channels

The other party said Use the same channel

I hoped that the wireless machines would pick up the strongest channel automatically

At this moment I used 2 different channels.

For I pads (my kids' as well) this doesn't seem to work.

Today I'll try to reset both AO's

A: simplyfy the password

B: use the same channel

But suggestions are welcome, as well as any help or advise.
