iOS Messages Client?

I've setup messages server on my ML server.

Its working fine with messages on my iMac clients, but i'm struggling to find a good client for my iPads

I've tried BeeJive which I can't even get to connect to my server.

I've also tried Monal, but its being flaky. It will connect, but on some clients it will show the list of connected users, and on others it won't. I've looked through settings and can't find any differences. It even seems that sometimes the client list shows and other times it doesn't. The other problem I have is that if i try to send messages from the client iMacs to multiple ipads (each with its own messages account), they come through as a chat room, but there are several problems:

-replies to the group don't go through at all

-if one of the clients that you try to send is offline, none of the recipients get the message

Can someone recommend a good jabber client to use? Why on earth does apple no provide a client for their own Message service on iOS?

OS X Server most certainly works with Push Certificates.

Did you ever set up an instance of OS X Server (Mountain Lion)?

Yes I've setup OS X Server (Mountain Lion) and have email, contacts, and addressbooks pushed. However, I never bothered setting up Apple's iChat/Messages Server since there is no need for my current clients. If Apple truly supported pushing "messages" on OS X Server wouldn't you think they would have push certifcates for messages in the Apple Push Certificate Portal?

why don't you look at

https://identity.apple.com/pushcert/

and see if you have a push certificate for messages?

Hey I'm not saying your wrong with your setup. It's just a matter of being HIPAA Compliant or not and keeping messages in-house and secure. I'm sure beejive has their own servers helping with the push.

So right now, i have setup the following accounts

mfdipad1@server.mfd.private

mfdipad2@server.mfd.private

mfdipad3@server.mfd.private

mfdipad4@server.mfd.private

and then i have 5 accounts for my computer users

The computer users are all working fine, they see each others availability, they can send messages to each other, working fine.

The ipads are weird. I've only setup two of the ipads so far. On one of them, user availability shows up just fine, but on the other the other users do not show up. they are setup identically other than the jabber id.

also, when i send group messages to mfdipad3@server.mfd.private and mfdipad4@server.mfd.private from the computer accounts, the message is received on both ipads, but if you reply from the ipads, the replies don't go through to the computer accounts. weird. If i send a message to jsut one ipad, it works ok.

Ideally, i'd have all the ipads share one account so that you can message them all at the same time, but i've tried setting them all up with 1 jabber id and that doesn't seem to work either.

it certainly seems that unti/unless apple develops a message client for iOS that works with ML server messages, my best/only option is to setup email. nuts

I presume that even if i wanted to use messages on the ipads with an icloud id, it won't talk to my ML server messages account unless I setup my server with a FQDN?
