iOS Messages Client?

I've setup messages server on my ML server.

Its working fine with messages on my iMac clients, but i'm struggling to find a good client for my iPads

I've tried BeeJive which I can't even get to connect to my server.

I've also tried Monal, but its being flaky. It will connect, but on some clients it will show the list of connected users, and on others it won't. I've looked through settings and can't find any differences. It even seems that sometimes the client list shows and other times it doesn't. The other problem I have is that if i try to send messages from the client iMacs to multiple ipads (each with its own messages account), they come through as a chat room, but there are several problems:

-replies to the group don't go through at all

-if one of the clients that you try to send is offline, none of the recipients get the message

Can someone recommend a good jabber client to use? Why on earth does apple no provide a client for their own Message service on iOS?

so i've been told that Kerio is the way to go and will solve a lot of the problems that ML Server has. Will keep you posted.

What Kerio product are you looking at? Just curious.. Kerio Connect right?

I wouldn't say it would solve a lot of the problems that ML Server has...It's more like Kerio Connect 7.4.X addresses some of the features that ML Server is missing out of the box. While Kerio Connect is also missing some features from ML Server too.

All it depends on what you need is.

And in some cases you can have both servers for different needs. It's not unheard of to have different servers in a Small Office to address different needs.

If you plan on using Kerio Connect , I recommend that you install it on a Mac OS 10.8.2 client and not server so you would have less conflicts and problems.

Let me ask you this question since you never explained what your office needs and wants to do? The only feature that you explained to me so far was the instant message server situation.

But again if you're still looking for a instant message server Kerio lacks it.

I got beejive working

User name is user@server.mydomain.com (if you leave out server it does not work)

enter in the host name : server.mydomain.com

and for SSL option use TLS

Leave everything else blank (except the password of course)

Worked for me

A free app named Talkonaut works including push notifications with ML Messages server.

You can install JabberB and disable push notifications. It then will notify users by email. If you tell the app to anyway 🙂

don't suppose anyone has found an iPad client that works yet with ML Server messages? I've tried Monal, Beejive, and Talkonaut. None of them were reliable at all.
